Gaviota to the Rescue

Gaviota to the Rescue

This week, Jeff and I were out sailing on Lake Lanier when my phone rang. It was a friend asking if we were in our powerboat, and if so, could we give them a tow.  It seemed their like, hundred-million dollar boat had, once again, crapped-out on them.  This is one of those boats you can hear from 17 miles away, and no one, except the driver and other men with extremely small penises, wants to ride in them. Even his wife dislikes it.

Their boat hadn’t made it far–it was within sight of their dock, but, being so barge large, it would have been impossible to paddle.

“We’re on Gaviota.” (our newly, freely-acquired 24′ sailboat). “We’ll be there in a minute.”

I don’t think she relayed this to the captain, because as we came tuttin’ up with our little 5-hp outboard, he just shook his head.

He tossed us a rope, looking none too amused. Or was that humility? Gaviota proved herself that day. She was “the little engine that could.”

You did us proud, old gal!
