Fight for Air Climb

Fight for air climb

Please join me!

A couple of weeks ago, Mommy did something real crazy! She signed up for the American Lung Association’s Fight For Air Climb!

What is that? you growl! Well, we’ll let Mommy fill you in. We just wanted to say “woof”! Here’s Mommy!….

Hey there. Jules here. First, what is the Fight For Air Climb? It is a vertical run (or walk, or crawl) up 52 flights of stairs in Atlanta’s 191 Peachtree Tower.

I could go into a whole scripted spiel about why I’ve decided to do this. But the short reason is that I am climbing for my Mom, who was diagnosed with lung cancer last Fall.

For those of you who know my Mom, you know that she is full of life. She has always been energetic, whether on the back of her horse, on the tennis court or golf course. Walking the beach has, until her diagnosis, been her favorite pasttime, and I look forward to the day when we can stroll the beach together again.

A little about the facts:
  • Lung disease is the 3rd leading cause of death in the US., responsible for 1 in 6 deaths.
  • Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in the US
  • Asthma is the leading cause of missed school days
  • COPD is the 4th leading cause of death in the US
  • And lastly, but certainly NOT leastly, air pollution threatens the lives of millions!

So I have made a commitment to climb. For air. For those who can’t. Because i can!

Will you join me in my fight? I would love to have more climbers join my team and climb along with me. If you can’t climb, Would you donate? Every little bit helps. For more info on how to help, please go to my PERSONAL PAGE with the American Lung Association.

I’ll be posting regularly about my training for this event. Meanwhile, have a great day, and don’t forget to Breathe!
