Should I Stay or Should I Go?

Coming or going?

We’ve been out of touch for EVER! Mommy went on a girl’s weekend to a writer’s conference, then she and Diddy and the 3 of us pups met her for what was supposed to be about 5 days camping at the beach.

The weather, however, was perfection, and Beave, a friend of theirs from Norway, just happened to be a couple of hours further south, so we went on to visit her for an afternoon. She had never met us puppies before, so of course we charmed her with our beauty and manners! HA!

Since we were already that far south, we decided to surprise Granny, Grandiddy and cousin Tessa-Vanessa for G-Diddy’s birthday. We ended up staying another week, so we’re just getting back.

suitcase, travelNow we’re studying where to go next. It seems over this past year we aren’t content to stay put too long. With the Pup, (the pop-up), we can all be together on vacation. And since Diddy is taking an extended sebatcle, sabtical, a long break from work, we want to take advantage of the time we have.

On the other paw, it’s nice to be “home” for a while, bags unpacked and fully connected. (That’s what Mommy says, anyway. She is a social media junkie!!) But within a week or two, it’s back to wanderlust, and we’re ready to hit the road again.

How do families find the right balance between here and there? Have you ever considered shucking it all and just taking off?  If so, how and where would you go? Talk to us. We need to process.

  1. Wes would like to take more trips, but alas, Mommy has to work and we always needs really good internet for that! When we lived in Calgary, we had the house here in BC and used to come here all summer when Daddy was off work. Now Daddy does not work, so we moved here all the time. It is really nice to lives where we plays but me wishes wes could go fishing and camping more!

  2. Life in BC is one of the few things that would keep me “home” more. Love it! (Well, maybe in winter we’d go south…)

  3. We don’t have the green papers to go anywhere, so we stay home. Mama said she would like to go some places, but she doesn’t think I would like to travel (getting a mite too old, ya know). She has always wanted to go to New England. And back to Old England.
I think it would be fun. Oh, well.

    • we’re thinking New England may be this summer- never done a road trip there.

  4. I dream about just walking away from it all almost daily. I admire you guys for actually doing it. Part of what holds me back is fear and lack of the ability to save money on my part. Ha! I would love to travel the world. That dream is much harder (an in some cases impossible) with dogs but I think it would be fun to take them to another country…like hiking in Switzerland. In lieu of that we would road trip concentrating on Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, the Sierras…..

  5. well, you are doing Blogpawz this year, so maybe you can eek it out a bit and visit the 4 corners area. Too bad they’re not allowed on trails, tho. That makes it tough to enjoy when you have to worry about them.
