Sharing the Love of Food (part 2)

snack bars

snack bars

I readily admit that I am a snacker.  It is exactly 3 1/2 steps from my computer desk to the snack cabinet. (This, admittedly, was extremely poor planning on my part when we designed this house.) No amount of self discipline can stop me from making my way to that corner of the room when I have hit a rough patch in writing, or browsing, or facebooking, or watching TV on my computer.  So I realized that since I will continue with this habit, there should be something healthier over there than my steady supply of gummy bears and chocolate.

Leafing through the old recipe file, which now seems like a fossil with bookmarks on allrecipes.com and cooks.com, (to name just a few), I flipped to the snacks/desserts section looking for one that I vaguely remembered.  Found it! Yay!   So this morning I made it, and am sitting here at the computer, (with a damp napkin, because this is kinda gooey) to share it with you. (The recipe).

Cereal Bars

3 T. butter,

1 (10.5 oz) bag mini marshmallows,

1 (15-oz) box multi grain cluster cereal (I use Kashi GOLEAN Crunch),

1 1/4 C. dried cranberries.

Melt the butter in lg. saucepan, add ‘malllows and stir til smoothe.  add cereal and cranberries. mix well. spread in 9×13 greased baking dish. Let set for an hour. cut into bars. eat.

So, in keeping with a previous post about sharing recipes, I’d love for you to share a favorite snack recipe.  Thanks!

  1. Lord Jules…would you stop with this food stuff. I am trying to lose some damn weight before I come back to Atlanta in November and tie on the local feedbag.

Not all of us are teeny tiny like you! 🙂
